Abstract

V této stati argumentuji proti návrhu J. Peregrina definovat syntax jako vědu o tom, které znaky užíváme a sémantiku jako vědu o tom, jak ty znaky používáme. Především ukáži, že takovéto definice spadají pod Carnapovy definice deskriptivní syntaxe a deskriptivní sémantiky, které jsou coby vědy založeny na pragmatice. Dále poukazuji na Carnapovy definice čisté syntaxe a čisté sémantiky, které se běžně používají jako klasické definice syntaxe a sémantiky.

Abstract (in English)

In this article I argue against Peregrin's suggestion to conceive syntax as a science about which signs we use and semantics as a science about how these signs we use. In fact this distinction is identical Carnap's definition of descriptive syntax and descriptive semantics, which are sciences based on pragmatics. Then I show Carnap's definitions of pure syntax and pure semantics which are used as common definitions of syntax and semantics.
