Autoři analyzují aktuální demografickou situaci a její prognózu do příštích desetiletí v ČR. Stárnutí a hypertenze mají řadu společných znaků právě v charakteru postižení kardiovaskulárního systému. Hypertenze patří k hlavním příčinám srdečního selhání, zhoršování renálních funkcí a rozvoje diabetických komplikací, případně i demence.

The authors analyze current demographic situation and its prognosis for coming decades in the Czech Republic. Aging and hypertension have many common signs particularly in the way of affecting the cardiovascular system. Hypertension is one of the main causes of heart failure, deterioration of renal functions and development of diabetic complications, eventually even of dementia.
