Today, when the surrounding world flourishes with modern technologies, we – teachers of future teachers – have to cope with new and sophisticated teaching tools, such as the Internet or data projectors. Even today, however, we may find inspiration in “old” teaching methods used by our predecessors, who had to manage with a piece of chalk and a blackboard. The personality of Professor Jan Firbas will be taken as a lucid example.
