Cílem tohoto článku je představit několik teorií rasismu, které se pokouší vysvětlit jeho příčiny. Rasismus je komplexní a komplikovaný jev, který není jednoduché postihnout a jehož vysvětlení se liší v závislosti na zaměření jednotlivých teorií. Zde jsme vybrali některé psychologické teorie, normativní teorie a teorie vysvětlující rasismus jako boj o moc. Psychologické teorie rasismu se zaměřují zejména na studium předsudků a jejich nositele, normativní teorie hledají vysvětlení rasismu ve sdílených reprezentacích a velký důraz kladou na socializaci a teorie vysvětlující rasismus jako boj o moc ho interpretují jako snahu o zachování výhod dominující skupiny.

The aim of this article is to present several theories of racism that try to explain its causes. Racism is a complex and complicated phenomenon which is not easy to be grasped. Its explanations differ according to the focus of the respective theories. We chose to present here some psychological, normative and power conflict theories. The psychological theories concentrate mainly on research of prejudice and its protagonists, normative theories study racism through collective representations with an emphasis on socialization and power conflict theories interpret this phenomenon as an effort of the dominant group to maintain its advantages.
