Pro Masarykovu univerzitu se milníky ve vývoji e-learningu staly roky 2004 a zejména 2005, kdy bylo vyvinuto nejvíce e-learningových nástrojů v Informačním systému MU. Vznikl tak Learning management system. Na MU se však toto označení nepoužívá, používá se označení EPV (Elektronická podpora výuky), protože .systém není jen klasickým LMS systémem, ale zahrnuje mnohem více služeb nebo autorské nástroje.

The largest number of e-learning tools, which spawned the so-called Learning Management System, was developed under the Information System of Masaryk University during the period of 2004 – 2005. Besides the Learning Management System, some other services and authoring tools were also added to it, which is the reason why the term currently used at the University to refer to the whole product is that of EPV (an abbreviation standing for Czech Elektronická podpora výuky, i.e. Electronic Support of Education).
