Abstract

L'obra catalana traduïda al txec supera àmpliament en nombre els textos txecs en llengua catalana. Des del final del segle XIX i primera meitat del segle XX, el creixent interès dels txecs per Catalunya i els catalans va propiciar l'aparició de nombroses traduccions dels autors de més renom de l'època. Aquesta tradició va continuar durant el període totalitari a través de l'editorial Odeon i la revista Světová literatura. Les traduccions catalanes d'obres txeques no han estat especialment abundants i gairebé sempre han anat marcades per un caràcter comercial, que ha ocasionat la repetició de valors segurs com Kundera o Hrabal. Aquesta situació contrasta amb el desconeixement literari mutu entre Catalunya i Eslovàquia, on l'activitat de traducció entre ambdós països és pràcticament inexistent.

Abstract (in English)

The number of Catalan works translated into Czech widely outnumbers the Czech texts in the Catalan language. Since the end of 19th century and during the first half of 20th century, the interest of the Czechs in Catalonia and the Catalans grew considerably and it favoured the publication of several translations of the most well-known contemporary Catalan authors. This tradition continued during totalitarianism through the Odeon publishing house and the literary magazine Světová literatura. Catalan translations of Czech works are not particularly numerous and were almost always marked by a commercial atmosphere, which provoked the publishing of non-risk authors such as Kundera or Hrabal. This situation strongly contrasts with the mutual lack of literary knowledge between Catalonia and Slovakia, where the translation activity between both countries is practically non-existing.
