V originále
Food habits of three Neogobius species (N. kessleri, N. fluviatilis and N. melanostomus) were studied in Austrian, Slovak, Croatian and Bulgarian stretches of the River Danube. The results were compared with the composition of macrozoobenthos with the aim to evaluate the level of food selectivity in individual Neogobius species and food competition between them. Crustaceans (Corophium, Dikerogammarus and Jarea) predominated in food offer in upper sampling sites whilst lower sampling sites were colonized mainly by molluscs. Besides them, numerous occurrences of the mysid Limnomysis benedeni were recorded in Slovak and Croatian section of Danube respectively. The diet of gobiids consisted mainly by dominating benthic animals - amphipods and molluscs.
In Czech
Potravní preference tří druhů hlaváčů rodu Neogobius (N. kessleri, N. fluviatilis a N. melanostomus) byla sledována na rakouském, slovenském, chorvatském a bulharském úseku Dunaje. Výsledky byly porovnány s potravní nabídkou s cílem vyhodnotit potravní selektivitu a kompetici mezi druhy. V potravní nabídce dominovali korýši v horním úseku Dunaje a měkkýši v dolním úseku Dunaje. Kromě toho se ve slovenském a chorvatském úseku vyskytoval ve vysoké početnosti Limnomysis benedeni. Potrava gobiidů sestávala především z dominantní složky bentosu - korýšů a měkkýšů.
