TY - JOUR ID - 707272 AU - Pekár, Stanislav - Haddad, Charles PY - 2006 TI - Can agrobiont spiders (Araneae) avoid a surface with pesticide residues? PB - Universitat de Barcelona CY - Sitges KW - araneae;pesticide N2 - Integrated pest management includes use of various pesticides that can have a detrimental effect on spiders. A pesticide can express its activity directly or via residues. Most attention paid to side-effects of pesticides on spiders has investigated the direct effects. Our aim in this study was to investigate the residual activity (repellency and toxicity) of selected pesticides on six principal species of spiders occurring in an apple orchard. Four species (Clubiona pallidula, Pardosa palustris, Philodromus cespitum, Xysticus cristatus) are hunting spiders, and two species (Dictyna uncinata, Theridion impressum) are web-building. We were interested whether these spiders can avoid a surface with residues, and their susceptibility to fresh and 1-day old residues. ER -
