Abstract
The increase in long-term unemployment as well as prolongation of periods of unemployment signals the establishment of marginalised labour force in the Czech labour market. A major determinant of the incidence of unemployment in a person s work career is human capital indicated by completed education (manual workers are at greatest risk of repeated unemployment). Marginalisation affects individuals and, indirectly, also their families. The negative impacts of labour market marginalisation (understood in terms of risks of long-term unemployment and repeated unemployment) on the overall labour market performance need attention: first, reproduction of the labour force, human capital and employability of the most of (involuntarily) unemployed is affected. Consequently, effectiveness of job search worsens, even in cases when material deprivation of the (involuntarily) unemployed increases.
