Abstract
Parameters of the soil microorganisms can be used as a part of the routine monitoring of soils. They complete monitoring information about the environment pollution and about the soil physical-chemical properties. The fluvisols are very specific and consistent soil group and data about their stress resistance are very poor. Monitoring of fluvisols in Zlín region (the Czech Republic) has been conducted as repeated sampling and measuring of 22 - 33 fluvisols since 1997 so far. Because the monitored area is the small water-basin affected by industrial and agricultural activities, the produced data can be evaluated from the viewpoint of ecological risk assessment. Microbiological (e.g. microbial biomass and activity), chemical (heavy metals and persistent organic pollutants) and physical-chemical characteristics have been assessed. In addition, the large floods occurred in this area in 1997. This situation allowed evaluating fluvisols state and long-term development after the floods in comparison with the initial state. Noticeable changes in all parameters were observed after the floods. However, 5 years later recovery near to the initial biological state was appeared on some localities. This research was supported by Ministry of Education of the Czech Republic (project no. MSM 0021622412 INCHEMBIOL).
