Abstract (in English)
Research into tourism in the Czech Republic has its roots in the middle of the twentieth century. Due to the changes in political and economical situation in 1989, a new stage in tourism development has begun. Satisfactory assessement of a booming increase of especially in-coming tourism has caused, to a certain level, negligance of systematic research, its non-coordination and its different quality. Research into tourism is shared by colleges and institutes, and in growing numbers by national and international companies, as well as by ad hoc established teams. That is why in the year of 2005, the Ministery of Regional Development of Czech Republic launched a public competition to initiate a project of systematic research into this field.
