Abstract
The geometric morphometric approach has yielded large-ranged potentials when applied in various biological disciplines. This paper provides an insight into two morphometric approaches, Conventional Fourier Analysis and Elliptic Fourier Analysis; it outlines their basics and demonstrates their legitimacy and applicability in the field of forensic anthropology (the shape analysis of the acetabular rim, the quantification of the cranial distortion in the photography, testing flatbed scanner usefulness for capturing shape of metacarpals).
Abstract (in Czech)
Postupy geometrické morfometrie mají velký potenciál v biologických aplikacích. Článek přináší stručný vhled do dvou postupů geometrické morfometrie: konvenční Fourierovy analýzy a eliptické Fourierovy analýzy. Uvádí stručně základy obou postupů a demonstruje jejich využití v oblasti forenzní antropologie (analýza tvaru okraje acetabula, kvantifikace distorze obrazu lebky na fotografii, testování využitelnosti plochého stolního skeneru pro záznam tvaru kostí záprstních).
