Kapitola analyzuje vývoj evropské měnové integrace v kontextu budování Hospodářské a měnové unie EU. Zaměřuje se na jednotlivé kroky tohoto procesu, vazby mezi jednotlivými státy a klíčové události. Součástí kapitoly je rovněž vymezení základních prvků tohoto procesu jako jsou Wernerův plán, Evropský měnový systém, Delorsova zpráva a zakotvení Hospodářské a měnové unie v primárním právu.

The chapter analyses the history of the European monetary integration in the context of the creation of the Economic and Monetary Union in the EU. It targets the particular steps of this process, bindings between member states and key affairs. The chapter also includes the elements of this process as are Werner report, European Monetary System, Delors report and incorporation of the Economic and Monetary union in the primary legislation.
