Abstract
Recent data suggest that inflammation, oxidative stress and remodeling of extracellular matrix may be associated with the development of heart failure. We assessed the association between circulating levels of soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (sICAM-1), tumor necrosis factor alpha, malondialdehyde (MDA), metalloproteinase-2 and 9 (MMP) and their tissue inhibitor (TIMP-1) in patients with acute myocardial infarction.
