TY - JOUR ID - 720356 AU - Váňová, Lucie - Kummerová, Marie PY - 2006 TI - Use of chlorophyll fluorescence for indication of stress in lower and higher plants PB - Česká zemědělská unverzita v Praze CY - Praha SN - 8021314842 KW - PAHs KW - fluoranthene KW - chlorophyll fluorescence KW - pea plants KW - lichens; N2 - In our experiment we evaluated the effect of short-time exposure (12, 24 and 48 h) to polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon - fluoranthene (FLT) on chlorophyll fluorescence parameters in two foliose lichen species Lasallia pustulata (L.) Mérat, Umbilicaria hirsuta (Sw. ex Westr.) Hoffm. and in separated leaves of pea plants (Pisum sativum L., cv. Lantra). Fluoranthene was applied in concentrations 0.1, 1 and 5 mg/L. Chlorophyll fluorescence parameters (F0, FV/FM and PhiII) were determined from a slow (Kautsky) induction kinetics of chlorophyll fluorescence. The exposure to 0.1 and 1 mg/L FLT induced in both lichens and separated pea leaves non-significant stimulative (F0) and also inhibitive (FV/FM and PhiII) changes in values of chlorophyll fluorescence parameters. The exposure after 48 hours to 5 mg/L caused significant increase of F0 and decrease of FV/FM and PhiII. Fluoranthene applied on thalli of foliose lichen and separated leaves of pea plants affected primary photosynthetic processes. Particularly high concentration caused significant changes of chlorophyll fluorescence parameters already after short-time exposure. Chlorophyll fluorescence parameters showed different sensitivity to the content of FLT in Lasallia pustulata and Umbilicaria hirsuta, respectively. Experiments with the short time exposition (48 h) did not demonstrate, that lower plants are more sensitive to contamination of environment. ER -
