Pilosella, Asteraceae). KW - apomixis KW - ploidy level KW - parthenogenesis KW - polyhaploid KW - additional hybrid N2 - The capacity of facultatively apomictic maternal biotypes to generate ploidy variation was compare with corresponding role of sexual biotypes in two polyploid hybrid swarms comprised of Hieracium pilosella, H. bauhini and their homoploid or heteroploid hybrids (sexual, apomictic or sterile). While the sexual mothers predominantly retained a rather narrow range of ploidy levels in their progeny, the facultative apomictic mothers produced progeny of much more variable ploidy. Apomictic mother were able to produce viable seeds via parthenogenesis, hybridization and haploid parthenogenesis. ER -
