Cílem příspěvku je popsat a analyzovat pohyby kapitálu v průběhu transformace v Československu a Slovenské republice v letech 1990 až 2005 a identifikovat dopady pohybu kapitálu na konkurenceschopnost slovenské ekonomiky. Nejdříve se zaměřuje na přímé zahraniční investice a jejich vliv na konkurenceschopnost. Popisuje jejich pohyb v průběhu transformace a jeho příčiny. Poté se věnuje vývoji a vlivu portfoliových investic, krátkodobého a dlouhodobého kapitálu na konkurenceschopnost.

The aim of the thesis is to describe and analyze the movements of the capital during the transformation in Czechoslovakia and the Slovak republic in the period 1990 till 2005, and to identify impacts of foreign capital movements on the competitiveness of Slovak economy. First it focuses on foreign direct investments and their impact on competitiveness. It describes inflows and outflows that occurred during the transformation period and their reasons. Then it shows capital movements of portfolio investment, short-term investment and long-term investment and their trends and influence on competitiveness.
