TY - JOUR ID - 726355 AU - Pokora, Ondřej - Lánský, Petr PY - 2007 TI - Steady-State Properties of Coding of Odor Intensity in Olfactory Sensory Neurons PB - Springer CY - Berlin / Heidelberg SN - 9783540755548 KW - neuronal coding;optimal odorant concentration;Fisher information UR - http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/978-3-540-75555-5_34 N2 - Several models for coding of odor intensity in olfactory sensory neurons are investigated. Behavior of the systems is described by stochastic processes of binding (and activation). Characteristics how well the odorant concentration can be estimated from the knowledge of response, the concentration of bounded (activated) neuron receptors, are studied. This approach is based on the Fisher information and analogous information measures. Results are compared with the classical (determistic) approach via steepness of the input-output transfer function. ER -
