Abstract

The main themes of the conference were: a) the role of the platonic and Christian care of the soul in the spiritual history of Europe, b) the role of the conception of virtues in European spiritual history (the concept of justice in Plato, the notion of virtue in Dante and in Shakespeare, the question whether contemporary Europe need new virtues), c) the question of the identity of Europe and of the borders of Europe.

Abstract (in Czech)

Hlavními tématy konference byla myšlenka péče o duši a její význam v evropských duchovních dějinách, problematika ctností (problematika spravedlnosti u Platóna, otázka potřebuje-li dnešní doba nové ctnosti, nauka o ctnosti v dílech Danta a Shakespeara), problematika evropské identity a hranic Evropy.
