Abstract
After 1989 all the economies of the Central European countries have undergone an important transformation processes that have an essential impacts on the higher education sector as well.In the Czech Republic the major universities are still facing challenges with respect of focusing their study programs on the relevant needs of rapidly changing labor markets. One of the most important issues arising in connection with this challenge is the absence of deeper cooperation between universities and potential employers. This situation is forcing all the universities in the Central European area to enhance cooperation with organizations from private as well as public sector (both local and international) in order to make them vitally interested in the whole curricula process. If such cooperation is not supported from both sides, then higher education institutions will face situation when their graduates are not competitive on regional as well as global labor markets. The potential tools for enhancing these activities include instances such as a mediator role of the government institutions, structural funds of the European Union, but also internships and traineeships of undergraduate students in organizations working in their fields of study.Article will show some specific instruments that are used by universities in the Czech Republic and their potential development towards regional and global labor markets.
