Abstract
After 1989 all the economies of the Central European countries have undergone an important transformation processes that have essential impacts on the higher education sector as well.In the Czech Republic the major universities are still facing challenges with respect of focusing their study programs on the relevant needs of rapidly changing labor markets.One of the most important issues that universities are being confronted with,is the cooperation with subjects form public and private sector that should result in sustainable regional development process.When this cooperation network is established,it could prove very useful,especially since the Czech Republic has joined the European Union it is being supported by both national and regional authorities.But universities should contribute to such development not just by performing specific tasks in the field of theoretical or applied research,but also by producing specific graduates whose qualification should reflect needs of local labor market.To fulfill this task it is necessary that universities will provide appropriate curricula inseparable part of which should be praxis and traineeships of students in the partners’ organizations.By using these tools it is possible to make students as well as teachers interested in projects that are being solved within companies and organizations.This cooperation could enriched both parties and ensure sustainable development of particular region in the Czech Republic. Article will show some specific instruments that are used by universities in the Czech Republic and their potential development towards regional labor markets.
