This instrumental combination could prove useful to determine both the elemental and the isotopic spatial distribution within different mineral samples. For selected structures LIBS was used for a fast qualitative mapping of the surface to identify the main elements, whereas the ICP-MS system was used to precisely determine trace elements or isotopes.
