V originále
Frequency of Diabetes mellitus has sharply increased recently. Consequently, there is an excellent probability that teacher meets a diabetic pupil in the class. The questionnaires were distributed among teachers from selected elementary schools. The questions were put to find out what kind of knowledge teachers have about this disease. The aim of this task was to learn about the teachers ability of helping the pupil who fell into the diabetic coma or who has a more common complication connected to this disease. The questionnaire replies showed that teachers would welcome a short information handbook with reference to an actual situation of a diabetic pupil in the class. On the basis of these requests the handbook was written. It explains to teachers the everyday reality that the diabetic child has to cope with. The aim of the information is to get teachers know how to react to possible urgent complication and how to involve the child in school activities.
