The paper presents the characteristics of the English entrance test (University of Defence in Brno), the process of its design, moderation and pre-testing. All testers underwent a pre-testing training session whose purpose was to ensure consistent test conditions necessary for achieving high-test reliability. The attention is also paid to thorough test administration description and analysis. The test results have been analysed quantitatively in order to establish some test characteristics and correlations between the individual subtests as well as the correlations between test scores and some personal data of the students. Finally, the interpretation of test analysis is discussed together with main conclusions and recommendations for the future.
