Abstract

For Masaryk University, which houses nine faculties attended by more than thirty-eight thousand students, e-learning currently represents an indispensable teaching tool. However, designing e-learning applications covering most fields and specializations as well as preparing the conditions in which these will represent an asset rather than a hindrance even for IT laymen is by no means an easy task to solve. The major factor affecting the form the e-learning applications had in the past was a group of devoted developers whose products were of limited coverage as regards the number of students using these. While this small-scale development may work for a small school, a large university requires that a more sophisticated infrastructure in terms of technology, methodology, and personnel be deployed. Masaryk University has given rise to new and unique projects that have proved fruitful and that can be put into operation in both small and large universities.

Abstract (in Czech)

Rozvoj elearningu na velké škole, která má devět fakult a 38 000 studentů je velmi důležitým nástrojem pro kvalitu výuky. Není však triviální záležitostí vytvořit takové podmínky, aby elektronická podpora výuky zasáhla pokud možno všechny obory a programy, aby se na zkvalitnění výuky podílela i starší nebo méně IT gramotná generace. E-learning byl dřívedo jisté míry v rukou inovátorů a výsledky jejich práce pak zasáhla jen menší cílovou skupinu studentů. V prostředí malé školy může být tento stav zcela vyhovující, avšak v prostředí velké univerzity je potřebné vytvořit mnohem sofistikovanější technickou, personální a metodickou infrastrukturu, aby mohla být elektronická výuka rozvíjena plošně. Na Masarykově univerzitě se rozvinuly unikátní projekty, které přinesli a přinášejí ovoce a jsou uplatnitelné jak v prostředí malé, tak v prostředí velké univerzity.
