Abstract

Gelliovy Noctes Atticae a Macrobiova Saturnalia patří mezi antické prózy na pomezí beletrie a naukové literatury. Jejich autory z různých důvodů neuspokojovala stávající školská literatura, a proto se rozhodli naplnit své představy ve vlastních dílech. Spisy vznikly v různých fázích římského císařství, Gelliův na sklonku 2. stol. po Kr., za tzv. druhé sofistiky, Macrobiův v relativně tolerantní druhé třetině 5. stol. po Kr. Pod vlivem různých trendů doby a odlišných očekávání čtenáře zvolil každý z autorů jiné formální schéma, Gellius pestrou směs drobných literárních útvarů (tzv. miscellanea), Macrobius nápodobu Platónova Symposia, symposiální dialog. Právě kvůli příslušnosti k různým tradičním žánrům byly obě práce vnímány jako nesrovnatelné. Jak ovšem prokazuje autorka této knihy, na pozadí moderních žánrových typologií lze obě práce úspěšně srovnat a odkrýt tak základní vlastnosti antické "vzdělávací" literatury. Knihu doplňuje rejstřík a rozsáhlý anglický abstrakt.

Abstract (in English)

Gellius' Noctes Atticae and Macrobius' Saturnalia are part of writings oscillating between the educational genre and belletry. Both of their authors were not content with the existing scholastic literature and therefore decided to fulfill their own conception through own writings. Influenced by various contemporary trends (determined by the different period of their origin) and perhaps also various readers' expectations, the authors used different formal frames, Gellius so called miscellanea, Macrobius the imitation of Plato's Symposion: i.e. symposial dialogue. Because of their affiliation to different traditional genres, both writings were understood as uncomparable. However, the author of the book prooves with help of modern genre typology that both works can be succesfully compared and at the same time, the basic characteristics of ancient educational literature can be shown. The book is written in Czech, but contains also the extended English abstract.
