Abstract

Pandemie HIV/AIDS se stala v posledních letech světovým fenoménem a dávno již nejde výhradně o medicínský obor. Následující článek si vytyčuje za cíl představit v kostce akademické veřejnosti problematiku pandemie HIV/AIDS ve světle geografických aspektů a poukázat na to, že vzhledem k prostorovým souvislostem šíření infekce má smysl otevřít širší diskusi nejen na výše uvedené téma, ale i na téma renesance geografie zdraví a nemocí v naší zemi.

Abstract (in English)

HIV/AIDS pandemic has been a world phenomenon for last couple of years, but it is not a domain of only medical science anymore. The geographical aspects of pandemia HIV/AIDS have been researched since 1990s in the western Europe or USA. This paper discusses, whether geography in the Czech Republic should study the pandemia too. Geography has specific methodology, which can be used to spatially explore and thus fight AIDS. Another reason is, that 30 years ago the medical geography and the geography of health rooted in former Czechoslovakia, but there have not been any followers since that time.
