E-learning has recently become part and parcel of university education. Not only does it effectively solve the problems stemming from the ever-increasing number of students, but it also enables the school staff to satisfy the present-day information needs and facilitates the teaching process by making it visual and more enjoyable. Masaryk University represents an innovator in the field of new information trends and in putting these into operation in the academic environment (rapid e-learning, e-learning applications integrated in the information system utilized for managing study-related records, project of e-technicians, etc.). The aforementioned efforts contribute to the good reputation the University enjoys and its popularity amongst those applying to it. This paper focuses on concrete outcomes of the deployment of e-learning technologies at Masaryk University, chiefly rapid e-learning, and exemplifies how these can be utilized in courses and other educational activities.

E-learning se v univerzitním prostředí stává zcela běžnou potřebou. Pomáhá nejen zvládat navyšující se administrativní zatížení výuky spojené s rostoucími počty studentů, ale zároveň lze s jeho pomocí uspokojit náročné požadavky dnešních studentů na kvalitní informační servis a především poskytuje možnosti názornosti a vizuality pro vysvětlení obtížných pasáží nebo zpestření výuky. V podpoře nových trendů a jejich rychlého zavádění do každodenního akademického života je Masarykova univerzita (MU) inovátorem (rapid e-learning, elektronická podpora výuky jako přímá součást informačního systému pro podporu studia, projekty podpory tzv. IS-/e-/s-techniky apod.) a daří se jí z této strategie těžit kompetitivní výhodu, která se mimo jiné projevuje v rostoucí prestiži univerzity a popularitě mezi uchazeči o studium. Proto se příspěvek zaměřuje na konkrétní důsledky strategie plošného nasazení e-learningu na Masarykově univerzitě ve formě tzv. rapid e-learningu a představuje možnosti a vyspělost systému v příkladech konkrétních kurzů nebo e-learningových aktivit.
