Abstract

Nel nostro contributo parleremo su uno dei problemi piú spiccati della traduzione, cioé sull’onomastica. Ci concentreremo solo sulla traduzione di antroponimi usati nel libro di Favole di Karel Čapek. Ci sono due tipi di antroponimi presenti nostro testo analizzato. La loro funzione comune é quella di identificazione del loro portatore. Il primo dei gruppi consiste nei cognomi veri e propri, di solito usati per i personaggi secondari e non hanno altre funzioni che quella di identificazione. Allo stesso tempo collocano la narrativa in un mondo realistico, quotidiano, ció accade raramente nelle fiabe. L’altro gruppo, piú interessante dal punto di vista linguistico e lessicale sono i cosiddetti nomi parlanti, che caratterizzano i loro portatori. I nomi parlanti sono una fonte ricca di vari contenuti semantici e comico linguistico. Noi cercheremo di analizzare le soluzioni usate da parte delle traduttrici italiana e inglese per vedere quale sistema hanno deciso di adottare per le loro scelte linguistiche.

Abstract (in English)

The paper focuses on the problematics of translation of antroponyms used in Devatero pohádek by Czech author Karel Čapek. The main and general characteristics of two main groups of antroponyms in the book is that of the identification of the characters. The first group which includes existing surnames (in the book used maily for secondary characters) has no other quality that of identification. They also connect the story with the real word, a rare occurence in a fairy-tales. On the other hand the second group is composed of semantically more „promising“ speaking names. They usually characterize the protagonists in terms of their particular physical or psychological traits and they bear a rich semantic potential and are usually the source of a linguistic comicality. In the current paper we’ll focus mainly on the second group and try to analize what kind of solutions, sistematic or not, the Italian and English translators decided to adopt in their respective traductions.
