Abstract

Monografie se věnuje problematice rodičovství neklidného dítěte. Jejím cílem bylo popsat, jak své rodičovství prožívají matky neklidných dětí. Kvalitativní výzkum hledal odpovědi na otázky, jak matka svou roli a výchovu dítěte prožívá, s jakými problémy se potýká a jaké zdroje k jejich zvládání má. Analýza sedmi polostrukturovaných rozhovorů s matkami neklidných dětí umožnila identifikovat několik problémových oblastí v roli matky. Dále poukázala na matkami vnímanou velkou časovou a psychickou náročnost výchovy, na značné množství negativních pocitů, které matky ve své roli zažívají, a na nedostatek zdrojů zvládání. Podstatnými tématy v rozhovorech byla také nízká vnímaná kontrola rodičů nad chováním dítěte a percepce odlišnosti dítěte. Výsledky analýzy naznačují, že matčino chápání neklidu dítěte může mít podstatný vliv na její sebehodnocení. Většina matek se popisovala v roli advokáta dítěte, kdy zároveň obhajují jeho speciální potřeby a svoji "normalitu".

Abstract (in English)

The book deals with the topic of parenting a restless child. The main objective was to describe the way mothers of restless children experience their parenthood. A qualitative study was designed and conducted to explore the way mothers experience their role and the process of child rearing. Additionally, difficulties they face and sources they use to cope with them were also examined. Analysis of seven semistructured interviews conducted with mothers of restless children allowed to identify several problem areas in the mothers role. The process of child rearing is often perceived as very time-consuming and mentally demanding, and the results also revealed a considerable amount of negative feelings associated with the role of the mother as well as a lack of coping resources. Low perceived parental control and perception of their childrens "otherness" were among other important issues that appeared during the interviews. Finally, the findings suggest that mothers attributions of the childs restlessness might significantly affect her self-esteem. Most of the mothers described themselves as "advocates" of both the childs special needs and their own "normality".
