Processing of genetic and molecular data is nowadays in the centre of interest of computational biology. With explosive acquisition and accumulation of large datasets in biological sciences more robust and effective computational tools must be introduced. Currently available data hold a multitude of information that can be revealed using thorough statistical analysis. The methodology of statistical processing of genetic and molecular data has significantly improved in recent years; the mission of the summer school was to provide an overview and recent trends of data analysis in this field. The Proceedings of the 4th International Summer School on Computational Biology are prepared as a collection of educational papers of teachers. The papers covered the introduction into multivariate data analysis, analysis of genomic profiles, phylogenetic methods and applications and the role of genetic data in diagnostics. ER -
