Parental benefits accrue from their relationship with the child and also from their personal growth which arises from the effort to face challenges arising from care of a child with a disability. These parental changes which can be linked with the concept of posttraumatic growth (Tedeschi, Park, Calhoun, 1997) are the subject of presented study. 114 Czech parents participated in the study. Czech version of the Kansas Inventory of Parental Perceptions (KIPP, Behr, Murphy, Summers, 1992) were used. Another questionnaire was used to obtain information about families and their child characteristics. Positive perceptions of mothers were found in majority areas measured by KIPP. Results also suggest some determinants of parental positive perceptions. ER -
