Abstract

Spíše než brát existenci sociálních skupin ve smyslu etnických náboženství jako samozřejmost bude šťastnější zaměřit se při studiu náboženství v současných společnostech na to, jak se etnicita a náboženství vzájemně proplétají, podporují, či také vylučují, a to nikoliv jako skupiny (ontologické entity), nýbrž jako způsoby vidění světa a interpretace zkušenosti (epistemologické entity).

Abstract (in English)

This text argues that the existence of social groups in the sense of "ethnic religions" cannot be taken at face value. It claims that it is more reasonable to observe the cases when religion and ethnicity support or exclude each other than to focus the study of religions in contemporary societies on ethnically categorized social entities. It means to interpret ethnicity and religion not as groups (ontological entities), but rather as ways of interpreting the world and experiences (epistemological entities).
