Abstract

Vítězství a rekordy jsou ve společnosti přijímány a oceňovány jako projevy reprezentace lidu, národa a vlastenectví. Stejně tak sportovní úspěch ovlivňuje samotné sportovce. Při neúspěchu dochází k poklesu výkonové motivace, k nezájmu okolí, ke kritice a často se projevují negativní reakce diváků i okolí. Sportovci pak čelí řadě situací, které je nemohou motivovat, vedou k frustracím, k přílišné sebekritice a k brzkému ukončení sportovní kariéry. Na druhé straně starší neporažení sportovci se objevují na výsluní popularity řadu let, i když jejich výkonnost stagnuje. Reakce okolí působí na sportovce v obou směrech a má rozhodující význam ve sportovní kariéře. Řada bývalých vrcholových sportovců se nedokázala v běžném životě společnosti uplatnit a po ukončení závodní kariéry prožívají zcela neplnohodnotný život.

Abstract (in English)

Victory and records are accepted by the society as features of representation of the inhabitants, nation and patriotism. Similarly, the sports success influences the sportsmen themselves. In failure cases the performance motivation decreases, the surrounding looses its interest, sportsmen are criticised and negative reactions of spectators and society appear. Sportsmen face many situations that cannot motivate them, that lead to frustration, excessive self-criticism and early end of sports career. On the other hand, older and unbeaten sportsmen are popular over decades, although their sports performance stagnates. The reaction of the surrounding influences the sportsmen in both ways and thus has a significant role in the sports career. Many former top performance sportsmen have not managed to find their place in ordinary life and after the end of sports career they experience an unfulfilled life.
