The author proposes his consideration about the different positions and importance of physical education, sport and recreation in dependence on the development of socio-cultural changes. In doing so, he bases his reasoning on the substance of physical exercises and differences in their evolution related to the basic human instincts, individual and group survival, preservation of the species, games as well as of myths and rituals.

Autor předkládá úvahu o různém postavení a významu tělesné výchovy, sportu a rekreace v závislosti na vývoji společensko-kulturních změn. Vychází přitom z podstaty tělesných cvičení a rozdílnosti jejich vývoje, souvisejících se základními lidskými pudy, individuálního a skupinového přežití, zachování druhu, herního i s funkcí mýtů a rituálů.
