Abstract

Kouření je ve výrazné souvislosti se sebevražedností. Ačkoliv mechanismus působení těchto vztahů není zcela objasněn, nejpřijatelnějším vysvětlením je, že kouření je částí komplexu rizikových faktorů, které zvyšují riziko sebevražd. Zatím nebylo zjištěno spojení odvykání kouření se sebevraždami, přestože u některých kuřáků se abstinenční příznaky mohou manifestovat depresí. Regulační agentury v USA prohlásily bupropion, vareniklin a rimonabant za možná rizika sebevražd. Je nutný další výzkum, který by se cíleně zaměřil na pochopení vztahů kouření a sebevražd.

Abstract (in English)

Current smoking is clearly associated with suicide.Although the mechanism of these associations is not well known, the most pausible explanation is that smoking is a part of the comlex of the risk factors that increase the risk of suicide. Smoking cessation has not been associated with suicide, although in some smokers withdraval symptoms can be manifested by depression. US regulatory agencies have stated bupropion, vareniclin and rimonabat as possible risks for suicide. More research focuses on understanding smoking and suicide is needed.
