The paper represents a methodological reflection of research, that studied the parents experience of physically handicapped children. Hermeneutic narrative approach was used as a theoretical and methodological background for this study. The sample consisted of 10 parents of physically handicapped children. The research was based on autobiographical interviews that were facilitated by the life-line method. The authors mainly focused on the progress from the data collecting to the emersion of relevant narrative categories. Agency and positioning are explored in detail.

Příspěvek je metodologickou reflexí výzkumu, jehož cílem je porozumět zkušenosti rodičů tělesně postižených dětí. Teoretickým a metodologickým nástrojem vedoucím k tomuto cíli je hermeneuticko-narativní přístup. Vzorek zkoumaných osob tvoří 10 rodičů tělesně postižených dětí. Výzkum je založen na autobiografických rozhovorech, které jsou facilitovány metodou čáry života. Příspěvek věnuje pozornost klíčové fázi tohoto typu výzkumů, kterou představuje postup od sebraných dat k vynoření relevantních kategorií narativní analýzy.
