Abstract

The papers included in this volume were presented at the international conference 'Early European Languages in the Eyes of Modern Linguistics' organized by the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research into Ancient Languages and Early Stages of Modern Languages (MSM 0021622435) at Masaryk University in Brno. The conference was held from 28 September to 1 October 2008 at the Augustinian Abbey of Saint Thomas in Brno. The sessions of the four-day colloquium covered topics ranging from Latin and Greek, early Romance, Germanic, and, last but not least, Slavonic linguistics. More than fifty papers were delivered by linguists from renowned European universities as well as by linguists working at the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Brno. The volume contains a selection of papers read at the colloquium that were for the present purpose reviewed by two external referees.

Příspěvky zahrnuté v tomto sborníku byly předneseny na mezinárodní konferenci Early European Languages in the Eyes of Modern Linguistics organizované Střediskem pro interdisciplinární výzkum starých jazyků a starších fází jazyků moderních (MSM 0021622435) při Ústavu klasických studií FF Masarykovy univerzity. Konference se konala ve dnech 28. září - 1. října 2008 v prostorách Augustiniánského opatství sv. Tomáše v Brně. Sekce čtyřdenního kolokvia byly tematicky zaměřeny na oblast latinské a řecké lingvistiky, lingvistiky raně románských, germánských a v neposlední řadě také slovanských jazyků včetně češtiny. Bylo předneseno více než 50 příspěvků jak lingvisty z významných evropských univerzit, tak badateli ze Střediska pro interdisciplinární výzkum starých jazyků. Sborník obsahuje výběr z konferenčních příspěvků, které byly pro tento účel podrobeny recenznímu řízení.
