Abstract

The text deals with one of the most important phenomenon of current urbanization processes in Czech Republic - the suburbanization. The case study of chosen residential suburbs of the city of Brno illustrates the important changes connected with the post socialist situation. The structural changes on the political and economical level impact the everyday questions of lifestyles and housing dramatically. Suburbanization involves firstly spread of the city and migration of the urban inhabitants into the side areas, secondly the drift of these rural areas and its inhabitants to the urban way of life. In the first part the text is devoted to the theoretical question of the processes of urbanization and suburbanization, further describes the specifics of the socialistic planning of residential areas, its roots in the avant-garde urban tradition and the post socialist development of the suburbs. The second part offers the first conclusions of the case study made in the Brno suburbs.

Abstract (in Czech)

Text se zaměřuje na jeden z nejvýraznějších fenoménů současné urbanizace v České republice. V rámci případové studie vybraných brněnských rezidenčních suburbií ilustruje významné proměny, kterými prochází ČR v postsocialistickém období. Strukturální změny na politické a ekonomické úrovni se významně projevují v sociální každodennosti, ovlivňují a rámují volby občanů v oblasti bydlení, vztahů a životních stylů. Polarita města a venkova, jakkoliv je obtížné ji definičně vystihnout, se objevuje v percepcích aktérů, v jejich interpretacích života na "hranici" mezi dvěma odlišnými a stále se přibližujícími oblastmi. Urbanizace se ve svých suburbánních projevech podílí jednak na prostorovém rozrůstání města a přesunu "městských" obyvatel do okrajových venkovských částí, tak "poměšťováním" těchto dříve rurálních lokalit v oblasti změny životních stylů jejich původních obyvatel. Text se v první části teoreticky věnuje problematice urbanizace a suburbanizace, dále popisuje specifika socialistického plánování rezidenčních oblastí v České republice a jeho před-socialistické kořeny, problematiku sídlišť a následně post-socialistický rozvoj rezidenčního bydlení v okrajových částech měst. Text je završen prezentací kvalitativní případové studie z brněnského regionu.
