Abstract

Diese Konferenz, an der führende Fachleute aus Europa sowie Übersee teilnehmen werden, soll einen Beitrag zur aktuellen Diskussion über Anfänge der mitteleuropäischen Urbanisierung in der frühgeschichtlichen Gesellschaft leisten. Sie hat sich die Präsentation der neuen Erkenntnisse über den Zweck der Zentralorte, deren praktische Funktion, gesellschaftliche Bedeutung und symbolischen Sinn: zum Ziel gesetzt. Die Beiträge der Konferenzteilnehmer sollten sich schwerpunktmäßig mit dem Beitrag der systematischen Ausgrabungen in Pohansko bei Břeclav zur Lösung dieser Fragenkomplexe auseinandersetzen.

Abstract (in Czech)

Konference, na níž jsou zváni přední odborníci z Evropy i zámoří, je příspěvkem k aktuální diskusi o počátcích středoevropské urbanizace v raně historické společnosti. Jejím cílem je prezentace nových poznatků o původním účelu centrálních míst: jejich praktické funkci, společenském významu a symbolickém smyslu. Účastníci konference ve svých příspěvcích zvláště zhodnotí přínos systematických výzkumů na Pohansku u Břeclavi k řešení těchto otázek.

Abstract (in English)

The conference, inviting the leading experts in the field from Europe and overseas, is a contribution to the current discussion on the beginnings of urbanization in Central Europe in the early mediaeval society. It aims to present the new discoveries concerning the original purpose of the central places: their practical function, social significance and symbolic meaning. The conference speakers will pay special attention to the contribution made by the systematic excavations at Pohansko near Břeclav to investigating the related problems.
