Abstract
The book investigates coherence and cohesion in different genres of discourse. The chapters include essays by linguists working in the fields of pragmatics, discourse analysis and stylistics who explore features contributing to the perception of cohesion and coherence in spoken and written varieties of English.

Kniha zkoumá koherenci a kohezi v různých žánrech diskurzu. Kapitoly zahrnují příspěvky lingvistů, kteří provádějí výzkum v oblasti pragmatiky, analýzy diskurzu a stylistiky a kteří zkoumají jazykové prostředky, jež napomáhají vnímání koherence v různých variantách anglického mluveného a psaného diskurzu.
