Abstract

In Vortrag stellt die Autorin den Text des Martianus der Auffassung Joel Relihans gegenüber, dass das Werk De nuptiis Filologiae et Mercurii die typische menippeische Satire ist, welche die Attacke gegen die Fähigkeiten menschlicher Erkenntnis, die Parodie der Enzyklopädie und der anschließende Hinweis auf die wirkliche "mystische" Wahrheit, die hinter den Grenzen menschlicher Erkenntnis liegt, ist. Anhand der Analyse der Versnutzung sowie auch typischen Handlungssituationen, die zwar zahlreiche satirische Elemente enthält, deren Gesamtsinn jedoch ernst, belehrend is, schließt sie den Text von Martianus aus der Gruppe der menippeischen Satiren aus. Wiewohl die Inspiration durch menippeische Satiren unumstritten ist, ihr Grund ist didaktisch und die Gattungszugehörigkeit kann von ihr allen Kennzeichen nach nicht abgeleitet werden.

V příspěvku autorka prověřuje Relihanovu charakteristiku Martianova díla De nuptiis Filologiae et Mercurii jako typické menippské satiry, která útočí na schopnosti lidského poznání, parodizuje encyklopedie a poukazuje na skutečnou mystickou pravdu, která leží za hranicemi lidského poznání. Pomocí rozboru použití veršů i typických situací v ději, které sice obsahují satirické prvky, jejichž celkový smysl je však vážný, poučný, vylučuje Martianův text ze skupiny menippských satir. Ačkoli je inspirace menippskou satirou nepochybná, důvod jejího zapojení je didaktický, a proto nemůže být příslušnost k tomuto žánru přes přítomnost jeho charakteristických znaků odvozována.

Abstract (in English)

In the paper, the author revises Joel Relihan's statement that the Martianus' work De nuptiis Philologiae et Mercurii is a part of Menippean satire genre. By means of analysing both the vers use and the typical situations, she excludes the text from the group of Menippean satires. However the inspiration by the Menippean genre is undeniable, the reason for using it is didactic.
