The structure of the former Lateran canonry in Šternberk ranks at present among the finest preserved monastic houses of the Augustinian canons within the territory of Bohemia and Moravia. The aim of the specialised texts and pictorial material of the collective monography is to point out the art history transformations of the canonry within the context of the 18th century (contributions by Filip Hradil, Jiří Kroupa and Martin Pavlíček). The painting décor of the interior of the canonry and the parish church is again emphasised in connection with the restauration work, which is going on today (contributions by Milan Togner and Michaela Šeferisová Loudová).

Budovy bývalé kanonie lateránských kanovníků ve Šternberku patří dnes k nejlépe zachovaným klášterním komplexům augustinánů-kanovníků v Čechách a na Moravě. Úkolem textů a obrazového materiálu v publikaci je především ukázat uměleckohistorické proměny kanonie v průběhu 18. století (příspěvky Filipa Hradila, Jiřího Kroupy a Martina Pavlíčka). Malby v interiérech kláštera a farního chrámu jsou zdůrazněny v souvislosti s restaurátorskými pracemi, které v současné době v klášteru probíhají (příspěvky Milana Tognera a Michaely Šeferisové Loudové).
