N2 - The article considers the issue of European integration from a linguistic perspective as regards the stipulation of uniform health warnings in all EU member states. Focusing on the texts of tobacco health warnings, the text considers meaning shifts and some mistakes that occurred in the transposition of original warnings in English from the source EU directive into the national legal systems of the member countries.
