Abstract

V originále

River ecosystems represent dynamic system, where contamination of water and sediments exerts strong fluctuation between seasons. Presented project targets the contamination of rivers Morava and Drevnice (south-eastern part of the Czech Republic) and their flooding area. Presence of large industrial city Zlin in this area presents a suitable model ecosystem for pollutant accumulation, migration, distribution, and dislocation research at a local and regional level. Aim of our project is to evaluate the temporal changes of specific activities of both sediments and water samples isolated from five different sites each month for the duration one year, beginning in June 2007. The sampling sites differ in position of the river related to town Zlin - the potential source of pollution. As specific ecotoxicological biomarkers of water pollution the AhR-mediated activity (so called "dioxin-like" activity), anti/estrogenicity and anti/androgenicity of all samples were evaluated. These activities were assessed using in vitro biotests based on transgenic cell lines. Our results have shown there are relatively small activities in aqueous water phase. However, especially the AhR-active pollutants can be bound on sediments, but also associated with small particles that are transported in water column.
