Abstract
The paper is a part of a wider program devoted to the concept of representation in Art. The goal of this first paper is to present a general historical and factual overview of representation grasped as a factor of a total aesthetic value. Arguments of Plato, Aristotle and Goodman on the concept of similatity are investigated, commented and introduced into mutual connections.
