As numerous empirical findings from varied school environments show, to manage and lead schools from the headteacher position becomes a more and more comprehensive and complex task, relating to many a problem in life, both professional and personal. The data of the presented research have shown that a realistic performance of the headteacher role, which is what we call headship, has got its evident inner dynamics. The stages in the development of the headteachers life and professional careers are described in chronological sequence in the paper. The presented results follow our conference speeches at ECER 2008 (Decisive Moments in the Development of Life and Professional Careers of Czech Headteachers) and 2009 (Quest for the Stages of Life and Professional Careers of Czech School Headteachers).

Jak potvrzuje mnoho empirických zjištění z rozmanitých školních prostředí, řídit a vést školy z pozice ředitele se stává stále více všestranným a komplexním úkolem. Práce ředitele je vázána na mnohé životní okolnosti profesního i osobního rázu. Data z prezentovaného výzkumu ukazují, že skutečný výkon role ředitele má vlastní vnitřní dynamiku. Fáze vývoje životní a profesní dráhy ředitelů popisujeme v příspěvku v chronologickém pořadí. Prezentace navazuje na předchozí konferenční vystoupení na konferenci ECER 2008 (Decisive Moments in the Development of Life and Professional Careers of Czech Headteachers) a ECER 2009 (Quest for the Stages of Life and Professional Careers of Czech School Headteachers).
