Abstract
The paper outlines basic orientation phases of the care for health of school children in Czech schools from the First republic to the present. The system which originated already in the period before First World War further developed in terms of its organization and content and became a part of the overall democratization of the school system. The current status is presented focusting on the situation in primary schools, considerably broken down and elaborated into sub-areas, and on the content of the accredited curriculum of the "Family and Health Education" fied of study implemented at the Faculty of Education of Masaryk University in Brno.
