Abstract
Nucleic acids studies use 7-deazaguanine and 7-deazaadenine as analogues of natural purine bases. We showed that enzymatic incorporation of 7-deazaguanine and 7-deazaadenine can easily be monitored by simple ex situ voltammetric analysis of the modified DNA at carbon electrodes. 7-deazaguanine was shown as an attractive electroactive marker for DNA, efficiently incorporable by PCR.
