| Abstract |

| Study of periodic processes belongs to the basic tools of investigate of our Universe. One of the basic task of astronomy and astrophysics is determination of precise timing of minima or maxima of measured quantity, e.g. brightness of stars. The present most common and spred method is used incorrectly and conflicts with limitations described by authors. The practical example of incorrect usage are given, as well as the new developped methods of solutions. |

| Studium periodických jevů patří k základním nástrojům pro zkoumání jevů ve vesmíru. Jednou ze základních úloh astronomie a astrofyziky je stanovit přesný okamžik minima nebo maxima měřené veličiny například jasnoti hvězdy. V současnosti nejpoužívanější metoda na určování okamžiků minim je však používána chybně a v rozporu s omezeními popsanými autory. Jsou uvedeny konkrétní případy, kdy metoda selhává a jsou navrženy nové postupy. |
